Edith Montgomery <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

died, Saturday, May 9, 1942 at 1:30 p.m. at a local hospital. Mrs. Edith Montgomery<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>, wife of Wesley A. <strong>Gunn</strong>. Besides her husband she is survived by four daughter,<br />

Mrs. J. W. Roberts, Mrs. Edward N. Vaughan, Misses Grace and Elizabeth <strong>Gunn</strong>; three<br />

sisters, Mrs. M. B. Walker of this city: Mrs. W. T. Gibson of Lacrosse, Virginia and mrs.<br />

Alice M. West of Old Church, Va., also three brothers, J. S. And W. H. Montgomery of<br />

LaCrosse, Va., and S. J. Montgomery of <strong>New</strong> York City. The remains will rest at the<br />

residence, 812 W. Lancaster Road, Richmond, Virginia until 11 o’clock Monday morning,<br />

then at Woody’s Funeral Home, where the services will be conducted at 2 o’clock.<br />

Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond.<br />

Edith M. <strong>Gunn</strong> Manly<br />

Reidsville, NC - Edith McClintock <strong>Gunn</strong> Manley, 81, of Fran Turner"s Family Care Home,<br />

died Monday, April 28, 2003, where she had been a resident for five years. Funeral services<br />

will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2003, at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel, with the<br />

Rev. Toddy McDonald officiating. Interment will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery. Mrs.<br />

Manley was born in Rockingham County to the late Carl Gilmore McClintock and Bessie<br />

Mitchell McClintock. She was a retiree of Southern Bell, a member of Faith Christian<br />

Church, The Telephone Pioneers and the CWA. She was a devoted mother, grandmother,<br />

great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her hobbies were crocheting and lap quilting<br />

until she had her stroke. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Nathan Allen <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

and William Russell Manley, brother, George Gilmore McClintock and sister, Dorothy<br />

McClintock Knighten. Survivors include sons, Gordon Allen "Skip" <strong>Gunn</strong> and wife,<br />

Martha, Earl Max "Bubba" <strong>Gunn</strong> and wife Virginia "Ginny" and William Bennett<br />

"Benny" Manley and wife Sandra; daughter, Carol Manley Driscoll and husband, Preston,<br />

all of Reidsville; five grandchildren, Wendy <strong>Gunn</strong> Sledge and husband, Bob, of Virginia<br />

Beach, Danny Lee <strong>Gunn</strong> and wife, Bobbie of Walkertown, Kelly <strong>Gunn</strong> Page and husband,<br />

Joey, Jeffrey Bennett Manley and Tyler Dempsey Manley of Reidsville; two greatgrandchildren,<br />

Matthew Manley of Reidsville and Lauren <strong>Gunn</strong> of Walkertown; brother,<br />

Carl McClintock and wife, Estelle; sister, Peggy Warner and husband, John, all of<br />

Reidsville. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2003, at Wilkerson Funeral<br />

Home. At other times at the home of Skip <strong>Gunn</strong>, 1560 Brooks Road. Memorial may be<br />

made to American Cancer Society, Memorial Unit, ACS, PO Box 4193, Eden, N.C. 27289-<br />
