Funeral services will be conducted at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ocean View,<br />

Saturday, January 2, 1954 at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Rosary<br />

services will be conducted at the residence Friday, January 1, 1954 at 8:00 pm.<br />

Helen Pearl <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

88 of Astoria Oregon, died Nov 18, 2012 in Astoria. She was born May 23, 1924 to Barnard<br />

A. Bruce, Jr., and France M. Calkins Bruce. She graduated from Astoria High School in<br />

1942. She began her nurse’s training from 1942 until April 1944 then enlisted into the<br />

U.S.Coast Guard on May 23, 1944 as a corpsman. Following her discharge she worked at<br />

Pacific Telephone and Telegraph as a telephone operator, then worked in the business<br />

office. On March 18, 1950 she married George Isaac <strong>Gunn</strong> in Astoria at the First United<br />

Methodist Church. He survives and resides in Astoria. In addition to her husband she is<br />

survived by a son and daughter in law, Charles and Ursula <strong>Gunn</strong> of Astoria; two daughter<br />

and one son in law, Mary <strong>Gunn</strong> of Astoria, and Georgia Lynn and Alma Lynn Savage of<br />

Atlanta; five grandchildren; Melanie Frazer and her husband Micahel of Savannah, Ga.;<br />

Janine <strong>Gunn</strong> of Bend,; Colleen <strong>Gunn</strong> of Astoria; and Jolyn Savage and Rodney <strong>Gunn</strong>; and<br />

his wife, Melissa all of Atlanta; gour great grandchildren and numerous nieces and<br />

nephew. She was preceded in death by three brothers; Alonzo E., Joseph F. And<br />

Barnard A. Bruce, Jr. And a sister Alice M. Fowler.<br />

Helen Valentine <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Helen V. <strong>Gunn</strong>, widow of Angus Porter <strong>Gunn</strong>, died Saturday, May 8, 1982 at Westminster-<br />

Canterbury. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> was a retired civil service employee and a communicant of St.<br />

Thomas Episcopal Church. She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. John Alan Crawford of<br />

Charlotte, N.C., Mrs. Harvey Montaque of Raleigh, N.C., and Mrs. H. Lee Trentham of<br />

Houston, Tex.; three brothers, Robert Valentine of Redding, Pa., Edward Valentine of<br />

Raleigh, N.C., and John Valentine of Atlanta, Ga. Remains rest at the Bennett Funeral<br />

Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 11,<br />

in Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer<br />

Society. The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the<br />

Helen Y. <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

REIDSVILLE - Ms. Helen Y. <strong>Gunn</strong> of 1119 N. Scales St., died Tuesday, October 12, 2004<br />

at Penn Nursing Center. A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 16, 2004 at<br />

11:00 a.m. at Greenview Cemetery where the Rev. Willie Sellars will deliver the Eulogy.<br />

She was a native of Rockingham County and the daughter of the late Willie and Ivory<br />

Galloway. She attended the Rockingham County Public School System and was a retiree of<br />

Tredegar Corp., Harrisburg, Pa. Survivors are aunts, Mrs. Elnora Jarrett (Leroy), N.Y.,<br />

Mrs. Iola Holt, (Derwood), Eden, N.C.; ncle, Willard Galloway (Dorothy), Eden, N.C.<br />
