relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, William <strong>Gunn</strong>, and two<br />

children, Sammy <strong>Gunn</strong> and Mary Spencer.<br />

Carrie Witty <strong>Gunn</strong> Thompson<br />

REIDSVILLE, NC - Carrie Witty (<strong>Gunn</strong>) Thompson, 83, of 4061 Vance St. Ext, died early<br />

Wednesday morning, Dec. 21, 1994, at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will<br />

be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Roselawn<br />

Memorial Gardens. A native of Rockingham County, she was a member of Calvary Baptist<br />

Church, retired from Fieldcrest Mills, and partner of the T & G Greennhouse. Surviving<br />

are son, Allen <strong>Gunn</strong> of Reidsville; daughter, Joyce Anne Puckett of Reidsville; four<br />

grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home,<br />

and other times at her home. Memorial contributions may be made to Multiple Sclerosis<br />

Carroll Wayne <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Graveside services for Carroll Wayne <strong>Gunn</strong>, 91, of Portales, will be at 2:00 PM on Monday,<br />

January 7, 2013, at Portales Cemetery with Rev. Dick Ross Officiating. Masonic Lodge #26<br />

will render Masonic Rites. Honorary Pallbearers for Wayne will be his family and friends,<br />

especially his golfing friends. Wayne was born on May 27, 1921, in Crosbyton, Texas to<br />

Fredrick and Adella (Gilliland) <strong>Gunn</strong> and went to be with the Lord on January 2, 2013, in<br />

Portales. At the age of five his family moved to Portales, Texas which he has called home all<br />

his life. On April 19, 1946, he married Mary "Kay" Kathryn Musick and together they<br />

worked, Wayne as a Bookkeeper and Kay in the Administration at Eastern. He and Kay<br />

loved to travel in their RV and were members of the Good Sam RV Club as well as local<br />

clubs. Wayne was a musician, playing the clarinet and saxophone, for several local swing<br />

bands. He was a veteran of WWII and was stationed at Ft. <strong>My</strong>ers and in Alamogordo.<br />

Wayne was an avid golfer and had won numerous local tournaments. Wayne was a<br />

member of the local Masonic Lodge #26. Wayne is survived by his sister, Merlyn Sprague<br />

of Orlando, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his<br />

wife Kay in 1991, and his parents. Arrangements by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales, Inc.<br />

Carter Tredway <strong>Gunn</strong>,<br />

passed away Sunday, March 12, 2006. He was born in 1947 to Bishop George and Frances<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> in Norfolk, VA, as the youngest of three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 35<br />

years, Bobbi; and his two children, Allen and Robyn. He graduated from Norfolk Academy<br />

with the Class of 1965, received his B.A. in History from the University of Virginia and<br />

entered the Coast Guard, eventually retiring as a Commander. He then attended George<br />

Mason University where he received his Masters in Education, followed by the University<br />

of Virginia School of Law where he received his J.D. in 1976. Upon graduating, he joined<br />

the law firm of Vandeventer & Black where he became partner in 1981, and practiced for<br />

30 years. He specialized in maritime law, serving as general counsel to the Hampton Roads<br />

Shipping Association, Hampton Roads Maritime Association, Virginia Pilots Association<br />

and Allied Marine Industries. He was a member of the Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar
