Bryant College, Providence, Rhode Island and Old Dominion University in Norfolk. She<br />

retired after a 28 years as a teacher in the Virginia Beach and Norfolk School Systems. Her<br />

daughter Carole <strong>Gunn</strong> of Washington survives her. Her brother Frank Davis Luck, III,<br />

preceded her in death. Paul Funeral Home of Washington, N.C. is serving the <strong>Gunn</strong> family.<br />

Bess <strong>Gunn</strong> Dulan,<br />

Bess <strong>Gunn</strong> Dulan , 86, died - Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Butterfield Trail Village from<br />

complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Born July 2, 1914, in Biardstown, Texas, she was the<br />

fifth child and second daughter of Joel E. <strong>Gunn</strong> and Martha Elizabeth Walker <strong>Gunn</strong>,<br />

descendants of early settlers of Texas. She is survived by her husband, Harold A. Dulan,<br />

University of Arkansas professor emeritus of finance, whom she married on May 31, 1946,<br />

in Austin, Texas. Bess spent her earliest years in east Texas and later moved with her<br />

family to Austin where she earned a B.B.A. degree in general business from the University<br />

of Texas in 1934. Prior to marrying Dr. Dulan, she was employed at the capitol of the state<br />

of Texas, as a systems engineer for International Business Machines and as a computer<br />

systems supervisor for the University of Texas. Bess was a member of Central United<br />

Methodist Church; Chapter K, PEO; Marion Chapter, Daughters of the American<br />

Revolution; Daughters of the Republic of Texas; and Alpha Delta Pi sorority. A dedicated<br />

advocate of community service, she served on the board of the American Cancer<br />

Association and was a volunteer at Washington Regional Hospital and the Fayetteville City<br />

Library. She was an avid reader and was a mmber of several book clubs. She enjoyed<br />

playing bridge and was a member of the University Women's Bridge Club, <strong>New</strong>comers<br />

Bridge Club, the University Faculty Club and others. During her children's school years,<br />

she often served on the PTA and as homeroom mother. Bess placed a high value on<br />

education and often took courses at the University of Arkansas, including those taught by<br />

her husband. She enjoyed walking, jazzercise and sewing. Bess was a loving wife, mother<br />

and grandmother, and a loyal friend. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three<br />

daughters, Susan Hall of Wichita, Kan., Kathleen Alexander of Little Rock and Betsy<br />

Sexton of Collierville, Tenn.; four granddaughters, Denise Hall Montgomery of Berkeley,<br />

Calif., Alice Hall of Chicago, Ill., Rachel Sexton of Alexandria, Va., and Christina Lock of<br />

Little Rock; one great-grand- son, Robert Lock.. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m.<br />

Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001,at Butterfield Trail Village Convocation Room, under the direction<br />

of Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville. Officiating will be the Rev. Gary B. Lunsford. In lieu of<br />

flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Fayetteville City Library, 217 E.<br />

Dickson, Fayetteville, 72701, or Central United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1106,<br />

Betsy <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Mrs Betsy <strong>Gunn</strong> the affectionately known Aunt Betsey aged 81 years died June 16, 1893<br />

near Crawfordville, Georiga. She outlived all of her children. She will be interred in the<br />

Barnett Baptist Church Cemetery.<br />

Bette "Lu" <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Bette "Lu" <strong>Gunn</strong>, born September 1, 1922, joined her husband of 64 years, Walter H.<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>, on September 25, 2007. She was born and raised in Kansas City. While raising her
