Burial will be in Overlook Cemetery. A native of Rockingham County, he was a member of<br />

Bethel Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World and a retired employee of Branch<br />

Motor Express in Greensboro. Surviving are wife, Mrs. Rebecca Pearman <strong>Gunn</strong>; stepsons,<br />

Carlton Grubbs of Atlanta, Mike Washburn of Eden; stepdaughter, Kathy Wilson of<br />

Ruffin; sister, Mrs. Rebecca G. Harris of Collinsville; two grandchildren. The family will<br />

be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. today.<br />

James Earl <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

James Earl <strong>Gunn</strong>, 25, of Seagraves, Texas, an employee of El Paso Natural Gas .company,<br />

died in Seagraves hospital clinic on Sunday April 24, 1949 of head and chest injuries<br />

suffered in the collision. 'The two men in the heavy truck, believed owned by Ralph<br />

Johnson Truck lines of "Hobbs, N.M., were trapped in the cab of'the vehicle and burned.<br />

Cutting torches had to be employed to remove them.<br />

James Earl <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

SYLVESTER -- AKC James Earl <strong>Gunn</strong> USN-Ret., 77, of Leesburg died Tuesday, March<br />

16, 2004, at Lee County Health Care. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Liberty Hill<br />

Baptist Church with interment in Liberty Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Scott Tomlinson will<br />

officiate. Born July 20, 1927, in Worth County, Georgia to James Washington <strong>Gunn</strong> and<br />

Carrie Hufstetler <strong>Gunn</strong>, Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> had lived in Lee County since July 2003 moving from<br />

the Opp/ Enterprise, Ala., area where he resided since 1979. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> operated The <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Alternator Repair Shop from 1980-1997. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 23 years. He<br />

was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Robbie<br />

Sanderson <strong>Gunn</strong> of Leesburg; one son, John Henry <strong>Gunn</strong> of Albany; two daughters,<br />

Yvonne Duncan of Havelock, NC, and Margaret <strong>Gunn</strong> of Leesburg; two brothers, Gene<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> of Doerun and Charles <strong>Gunn</strong> of Leesburg; three sisters, Edna Hancock of Moultrie,<br />

<strong>My</strong>rtice Wingate of Douglas and Sue Smith of Leesburg; eight grandchildren and three<br />

great-grandchildren. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> was preceded in death by a daughter, Eleanor <strong>Gunn</strong> in<br />

July 1963; a son, James O. <strong>Gunn</strong> in September 2002 and a brother, S.G. <strong>Gunn</strong> in December<br />

2003. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Banks Funeral Home.<br />

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liberty Hill Baptist Church c/o Joy<br />

James Earl <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

affectionately called “Fathead,” 73, died Feb. 6, 2009. Funeral services will be conducted<br />

today, Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. with family visitation from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. at<br />

Greater South Baptist Church, 2013 John L. Patterson Street, Springfield, with Pastor<br />

Samuel Stratton officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Cedar<br />

Hill 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> was born June 8, 1935 in Springfield, to the late<br />

Robert and Evell <strong>Gunn</strong>. He was educated in the public schools in Springfield. He professed<br />

a hope in Christ Feb. 2004.He was employed by Martin Bonding Company as a plumber<br />

and Roe’s Plumbing Company until his retirement. He was married to Connie <strong>Gunn</strong>, who<br />

preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by a son, Curtis, a brother, Robert<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong> Jr., and a sister, Etha Rhodes.He was a concerned and loving father who especially
