Elsie Mae <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

West Frankfort, Ill - Elsie Mae <strong>Gunn</strong>, formerly of West Frankfort, passed away Monday,<br />

March 13, 2006, in St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla. She was born Feb. 25, 1918, in<br />

West Frankfort, to Stanley Whittington and Lizzie (Bowyer) Whittington She married<br />

Frank <strong>Gunn</strong> and he preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1995. Survivors include three<br />

granddaughters, Deanna Davies of Ohio, Laurie Witzke and husband, Kevin, of<br />

Oklahoma, and Stacey Rau and husband, William of Florida; two grandsons, Doug<br />

Grissom and Scott Grissom, both of Indiana; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great<br />

grandchildren; two nieces; and three nephews. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> was a member of Calvary<br />

Baptist Church in West Frankfort for many years. She worked at Mike's Confectionary for<br />

several years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; and a daughter,<br />

Shirley Grissom; and her brothers, Ernest, Stanley, and Cevil Whittington.<br />

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2006, in Parker Reedy Funeral Home, with<br />

the Rev. Alan Summers officiating. Burial will be in East Fork Cemetery in West<br />

Frankfort. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Souther Illinoisan,<br />

Elsie M. <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Funeral for Mrs. Elsie M. <strong>Gunn</strong>, 79, a resident of Abilene, Texas for the past 15 years, will<br />

be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Elliott's Chapel of Memories with Dr. Varner of Abilene<br />

officiating. Burial will be in the Coleman Cemetery. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> died in Cox Memorial<br />

Hospital on Sunday October 3, 1962. She had been in failing health for eight months and<br />

seriously ill for six weeks. She was born April 22, 1883 in McClellan County and married<br />

N. H. <strong>Gunn</strong> who died in 1939. Mrs. <strong>Gunn</strong> was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church.<br />

Survivors include five daughters; Mrs. E. W. Arpe, Mrs. A. J. Bowen, Mrs. E. B. Hall of<br />

Roswell NM, and Mrs. Nita White; one son, J. W. <strong>Gunn</strong> of Big Spring, Texas and one<br />

stepson Arthur of Terrell Texas.<br />

HURLBUT, Elsie Mildred - Peacefully, at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Fergus, on<br />

Tuesday, August 26, 2003, Elsie Mildred Hurlbut (nee <strong>Gunn</strong>), in her 85th year.Beloved<br />

wife of the late William L. Hurlbut (1986). Loving mother of Roy and his wife Diane of<br />

Hillsburg, Brenda Doig and her husband Bill of Fergus and Donna Smillie and her<br />

husband George of Hamilton. Loved grandmother of six and great-grandmother of two.<br />

Dear sister of Roy <strong>Gunn</strong> and his wife Elsie, Allan <strong>Gunn</strong> and his wife Leone, Gordon <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

and his wife Betty and Marion Kyle and her husband Lorne, all of Owen Sound. Elsie is<br />

also survived by her sisters-in-law Margaret <strong>Gunn</strong> of Fergus, Belly <strong>Gunn</strong> of Owen Sound<br />

and brother-in-law Bill Nesbitt of Fergus. Predeceased by her grandson Jeffrey Hurlbut,<br />

sister Doreen Nesbitt and brothers Hector and Howard <strong>Gunn</strong>. The family will receive their<br />

friends and relatives at the Thomson and Collins Funeral Home, 160 St. David St. N.,<br />

Fergus, today (Thursday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service in the chapel on Friday,<br />

August 29, 2003 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Witcher officiating. Interment Belsyde
