Douglas E. <strong>Gunn</strong>,<br />

61, of Evansville, Indiana passed away Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Deaconess Hospital.<br />

Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> was employed at Shelf Stable Foods for over 10 years and later as a selfemployed<br />

roofer. Doug served his country as a member of the United States Army.<br />

Surviving are his two sons, James Neal <strong>New</strong>ton and his wife, Jamie, of Slaughters, Ky., and<br />

Daniel E. <strong>New</strong>ton of Evansville; three sisters, Margaret Townsend, Linda Merrick and her<br />

husband, Art, and Debbie Roper, all of Evansville; and one brother, Ray "Blu" <strong>Gunn</strong> of<br />

Evansville. Also surviving are two grandchildren, James Douglas <strong>New</strong>ton and Justin<br />

Andrew <strong>New</strong>ton, a longtime friend, JoAnn <strong>New</strong>ton, nieces and nephews, great nieces and<br />

nephews and many close friends. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> was preceded in death by his parents, Welby<br />

"Tub" and Maxine (Michael) <strong>Gunn</strong> and sisters, Evelyn Lewis and Paula Hogan. Funeral<br />

services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev.<br />

Robert Nall officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. where the Retired<br />

Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites. Friends may visit with the family from<br />

2 to 8 p.m. today at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street<br />

Douglas L. "Pete" <strong>Gunn</strong><br />

Graveside services for Douglas L. "Pete" <strong>Gunn</strong>, 58, of Broaddus will be held at 2 p.m.<br />

Wednesday, September 24, 2003 in the Broaddus Cemetery with Bishop Paul Risk<br />

officiating. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> was born on July 5, 1945 in Reno, Nevada to Janice (Timms) and<br />

Lester <strong>Gunn</strong> and died on Monday, September 22, 2003 in Nacogdoches, TX. He resided in<br />

Broaddus for the past 30 years and formerly resided in Houston. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> was an<br />

equipment operator with the street department of the city of Nacogdoches. He served in the<br />

U. S. Army for three years and as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day<br />

Saints. Prior to his employment with the city of Nacogdoches, he worked as a fishing guide<br />

on Lake Sam Rayburn for the past 25 years. Survivors include his son and daughter-inlaw,<br />

Jason and Amanda <strong>Gunn</strong> of Zavalla; grandson, Shannon <strong>Gunn</strong> of Zavalla; parents,<br />

Lester and Janice <strong>Gunn</strong> of Fruit Heights, UT; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Phillip<br />

Duarte of Cloverdale, CA. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester<br />

Edward <strong>Gunn</strong> and Earl Ray <strong>Gunn</strong>. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.<br />

Tuesday evening at Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home in Huntington
