<strong>Gunn</strong> is also survived by nine grand-children, 15 great-grandchildren, one<br />

great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6<br />

to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24 at Wilkerson Funeral Home, and at other times will be<br />

at the home of Bill and Brenda Ward, 498 Spring Road in Wentworth. Memorial<br />

Walter Allen <strong>Gunn</strong> Jr.<br />

WENTWORTH, North Carolina - Walter Allen <strong>Gunn</strong>, Jr., 61, of 410 Spring Road,<br />

Wentworth, passed away on May 26, 2004 at Annie Penn Hospital. The funeral service will be<br />

held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 28, 2004 at Wilkerson Funeral Home, with Rev. Ernest Sartin,<br />

Rev. LeRoy Joyce, and Rev. Larry Durham officiating. Burial will follow at Reidlawn<br />

Cemetery, Reidsville, with military graveside rites performed by the Rockingham County<br />

Honor Guard. Born in Reidsville, N.C. on November 25, 1942, he was the son of Walter Allen<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>, Sr. and the late Mittie Barrett <strong>Gunn</strong>. He was also preceded in death by nephews, John<br />

Curtis <strong>Gunn</strong>, Jr. and Joseph P. Sartin. Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> was employed at the Upper Piedmont<br />

Research Station and was also well known by many from his years of service in auto parts. He<br />

entered the U.S. Army in 1961, Airborne Division and received the parachutist badge. He was<br />

a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. An ordained minister, Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> was a former<br />

pastor of Howard"s Chapel Christian Church, and was always ready to minister and counsel<br />

through his life and testimony. A loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and<br />

friend, he was devoted to his family, and is survived by his wife, Carolyn Jean Williams<br />

<strong>Gunn</strong>; a daughter, Tracy <strong>Gunn</strong> Wilson and husband, Coleman; grandchildren, Jennifer<br />

Jones, Ben Jones and Hunter Brooke Wilson; his father, Walter <strong>Gunn</strong>, Sr.; three brothers,<br />

Curtis <strong>Gunn</strong> and wife, Alieta of Claremore, OK, Donald <strong>Gunn</strong> (and Sonja) of Madison, and<br />

Nelson <strong>Gunn</strong> and wife, Mona, of Burlington; sisters, Brenda Ward and husband, Bill, of<br />

Wentworth and Jewell Dull and husband, Larry, of Greensboro; numerous nieces and<br />

nephews, and all the children for whom Mr. <strong>Gunn</strong> and his wife provided childcare through<br />

the years. He often said, "They are just like my own."" The family will receive friends from<br />

7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at Wilkerson Funeral Home and at other times they will<br />

Walter Anderson <strong>Gunn</strong>, III<br />

age 48, died December 9, 2011 in Pensacola Florida. He formerly resided in Springfield,<br />

Tennessee. Austin and Bell Funeral Home, 643-4000.<br />

Walter <strong>Gunn</strong>, age 92, of Brooklyn Park, Mn. died June 20, 2004. Survived by wife, Shirley;<br />

daughters, Marjorie Brack and Virginia (John) Breiwick; 3 grandchildren, Steven (Helen),<br />

Anthony and Richard Brack; 2 great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Shanna Brack; sister,<br />

Rosalind Knat; nieces, nephews and friends. Walt was an Army Veteran of WWII. He was<br />

much loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Private interment. Memorial<br />

service 1 PM Thursday with visitation 1 hour prior to the service at Washburn-McReavy<br />

Robbinsdale Chapel
