9.1 Introduction<br />

Introduction<br />

Error messages are entered in the error/event queue of the status reporting system<br />

in the remote control mode and can be queried with the command SYSTem:<br />

ERRor?. The answer format of R&S <strong>FSQ</strong> to the command is as follows:<br />

The indication of the remote control command with prefixed semicolon is optional.<br />

Example:<br />

The command "TEST:COMMAND" generates the following answer to the query SYS-<br />

Tem:ERRor?:<br />

-113,"Undefined header;TEST:COMMAND"<br />

The subsequent list contains the description of error texts displayed on the instrument.<br />

Distinction is made between error messages defined by SCPI, which are marked by<br />

negative error codes, and the device-specific error messages for which positive<br />

error codes are used:<br />

• 9.2“SCPI-Specific Error Messages” on page 9.3<br />

• “Device-Specific Messages” on page 9.8<br />

The right-hand column in the following tables contains the error text in bold which is<br />

entered in the error/event queue and can be read out by means of query SYSTem:<br />

ERRor?. A short explanation of the error cause is given below. The left-hand column<br />

contains the associated error code.<br />
