The semiar will discuss new literature of IR-experts dealing with issues on Global democracy
and reforms of the UN-System. The following questions are on the course agenda:
What are the consequences of Global democracy for nations states, transnational corporations
and NGOs?
What are the problems of democratic norms are involved with different democratic legitimating
of the various actors?
To what extent might a cosmopolitan and democratic approach to democracy contribute to
preventive conflict management, de-escalation of wars and the protection of human rights?
