This course offers students an opportunity to practise their oral skills, learn how to present
information in a clear and convincing way and how to react to questions and lead discussions
confidently. Students are asked to give short presentations on a topic of their choice.

This course is primarily offered to students of BA Anglistik.

This course is designed for students who would like practice in English conversation. Topics of
conversation are drawn from all facets of the English speaking world: contemporary politics,
arts and business. Classes typically consist of a short introductory class reading, radio or
television clip followed by group discussions. Improvisational theater games designed to
encourage everyone to “think on his feet” may also be used.

Students need level II English competence (successful entry test).
This course is designed as an introduction to contemporary American prose, both fiction and
nonfiction. Each class will be devoted to discussing a separate theme or author. In order to
receive credit for his or her participation, each student will be expected to give one class
presentation and lead that week’s group discussion.
