B. Materials and Finishes:
1. For 16-gage and heavier units, fabricate metal framing components of structural
quality steel sheet with a minimum yield point of 50,000 psi; ASTM A 446, A 570 or A
611. See drawings for additional requirements.
2. For 18-gage and lighter units, fabricate metal framing components of commercial
quality steel sheet with a minimum yield point of 33,000 psi; ASTM A 446, A 570, or A
611. See drawings for additional requirements.
3. Provide galvanized finish to metal framing components complying with ASTM A 525
for minimum G 60 coating. Finish of installation accessories to match that of main
framing components, unless otherwise indicated.
C. Fasteners: Provide nuts, bolts, washers, screws, and other fasteners with corrosion-resistant
plated finish.
D. Electrodes for Welding: Comply with AWS Code and as recommended by stud manufacturer.

E. Galvanizing Repair Paint: Where galvanized surfaces are damaged, prepare surfaces and
repair in accordance with procedures specified in ASTM A 780.
2.03 SHEATHING
A. Glass-Mat Gypsum Sheathing Board with Water-Resistant Core for Vertical Roofed Areas:
Gypsum sheathing board designed as an exterior substrate for a weather barrier, consisting
of a noncombustible water-resistant core, essentially gypsum, surfaced with glass mats on
face and back, partially or completely embedded in core, and with unsurfaced square edges.
Comply with ASTM C 11 77 and requirements indicated below:
1. Type: Regular/TypeX.
2. Edge and End Configuration: Unsurfaced square.
3. Thickness: 5/8 inch.

A. Available Products: Subject to compliance with requirements, glass-mat gypsum sheathing
boards that may be incorporated in the Work include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Glass-Mat Gypsum Sheathing Board:
a. Dens-Glass Gold Exterior Sheathing; Georgia-Pacific Corp.
B. Sheathing Fasteners: ASTM C 954, steel drill screws, Type S-12 fluted tip, a minimum of 1 -
1/4 inches (32 mm) long, with organic-polymer coating or other corrosion-protective coating.
C. Fire resistance:
1. Noncombustible when tested in accordance with ASTM E 136.
2. Flame spread 0, smoke developed 0, when tested in accordance with ASTM E 84.
2.04 BUILDING PAPER
A. No. 15, non-perforated, asphalt saturated felt complying with ASTM D 226, Type 1 or equal.
2.05 ACCESSORIES
A. Joint tape: 2" wide, 10x10 glass mesh tape.
B. Joint compound: Manufacturer’s setting-type joint compound.
