SECTION 09900 - PAINTING
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.01 SUMMARY
A. Supply and apply all painting work as specified on the drawings and included in this section.
B. Mechanical and plumbing identification shall be by Division 15.
C. Section includes painting work, interior and exterior. Work Includes, but is not limited to
painting the following:
1. Exterior steel including, but not limited to steel lintels and railings.
2. Metal doors and door frames, including metal glazing stops.
3. Removable mullions.
4. Exterior metal mechanical units.
5. Interior walls and ceilings.
6. Interior steel rails and miscellaneous metal.
7. Exposed structural steel.
8. Exterior exposed metal flashing.
9. Work includes field painting of exposed bare and covered pipes and ducts (including
color coding), and of hangers, exposed steel and iron work, plug mold, electric
panels, and primed metal surfaces of equipment installed under mechanical and
electrical work, except as otherwise indicated. Field painting of a roof mounted
mechanical units is part of this section. Field painting includes:
a. Return air louvers.

2. Division 4 Section “Unit Masonry” for interior and exterior brick sealer.

1.02 SURFACES NOT TO BE PAINTED
A. Any gypsum wallboard permanently concealed from view.
B. Any factory finished paneling, equipment and other materials with a complete factory applied
finish, except where otherwise noted.
C. Finish hardware, except where primed for paint finish.
D. Factory finished wood doors.
E. Non ferrous metals, unless specifically noted otherwise.
F. Lighting fixtures, except as noted on the drawings or specified.
G. Any acoustical surfaces, unless noted otherwise.
H. Any glass, plastics, vinyl floor, ceramic tiles and top set base.
