SECTION 08400 - ALUMINUM ENTRANCES AND STOREFRONTS
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.01 RELATED DOCUMENTS
A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary
Conditions and Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.
B. Provide aluminum doors and frames as shown on the drawings and specified herein.
1.02 SUMMARY
A. This Section includes aluminum doors and frames as shown on the drawings.
B. Related Sections: The following sections contain requirements that relate to this section:
1. Division 7 Section “Joint Sealants” for sealants between frame and wall.
2. Division 8 Section “Glass and Glazing” for glass systems and components.
3. Division 8 Section “Finish Hardware” for door hardware and Knox-Box.
1.03 SUBMITTALS
A. General: Submit the following in accordance with Conditions of the Contract and Division1
Specifications Sections.
1. Product data, including:
a. Construction details and fabrication methods.
b. Profiles and dimensions of individual components.
c. Data on hardware, accessories, and finishes.
d. Recommendations for maintenance and cleaning of exterior surfaces.
2. Manufacturer’s product data and shop drawings which include the following:
a. Layout and installation details, including anchors.
b. Elevations of continuous work at 1/4-inch scale or greater.
c. Full-size section details of typical composite members, including reinforcement.
d. Hardware.
e. Glazing details.
f. Accessories.
3. Samples for Color Selection: Submit samples of each specified finish on 12-inch-long
sections of window members. Where showing the full range of variations expected.
4. Certification: Provide certification by a recognized independent testing laboratory or
agency showing that each type, grade, and size of window unit complies with
performance requirements indicated.
1.03 COORDINATION
A. Coordinate work and scheduling of the work of this section with other trades for anchorage and
installation of hardware.
1.04 INSPECTION
A. Examine all subsurface to receive work and report, in writing, to the Architect, any conditions
detrimental to work. Failure to observe this injunction constitutes a waiver to any subsequent
claims to the contrary. Commencement of work will be construed as acceptance of all sub
surfaces.
