SECTION l5050 - BASIC MATERIALS AND METHODS
PART 1.00 - GENERAL
DESCRIPTION:
This section specifies the basic materials and methods to be used in Division l5 work.
MATERIALS & EQUIPMENT:
All materials shall be new and undamaged. Protect all stored materials and equipment from damage by the
elements, including exposure to excessive heat, flooding and rain, windstorms, etc.
All materials and equipment shall be installed in strict compliance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
DEMOLITION:
Demolition: Provide disconnection, demolition and renovation work specified under Division 15 and as indicated
and scheduled on the drawings.
Damage: Where pipe, ductwork, insulation or equipment to remain is inadvertently damaged or disturbed, cut
out and remove damaged section and provide new pipe, ductwork, insulation or equipment of equal capacity
and quality.
Accessible Work: Exposed pipe and ductwork to be demolished shall be removed in its entirety.
Abandoned Work: Buried pipe abandoned in place, shall be cut out approximately two inches beyond the face
of adjacent construction, capped, and the adjacent surface patched to match existing finish.
Removal: Equipment, piping, ductwork, etc., specified or indicated to be demolished, shall be removed from the
project site and shall not be reused.
Temporary Disconnection: Equipment required to be temporarily disconnected and relocated shall be carefully
removed, stored, cleaned, reinstalled, reconnected and made operational.
CUTTING AND PATCHING:
Any cutting, patching, or filling necessary for the proper execution of this work, except as noted on drawings,
shall be done by this contractor.
No rough or unsightly work will be allowed.
Cutting of structural members shall be done only on approval of the Owner's representative.
The attention of the contractor is directed to the requirements of running pipes thru concrete slabs, walls, and
