1. Type S-12, bugle head, self-tapping, rust-resistant, fine thread for heavy-steel gauge
(12 to 22).
2. Type S, bugle head, rust-resistant sharp point, fine thread for light-gauge metal
framing or furring.
D. Sealants, caulk and tape:
1. Dow Corning 795, Pecora 895, or equivalent.
2. 2" wide 10 x 10 glass mesh Quick Tape or equivalent
2.06 FABRICATION
A. General: Framing components may be prefabricated into assemblies prior to erection.
Fabricate panels plumb, square, true to line and braced against racking with joints welded.
Perform lifting of prefabricated panels in a manner to prevent damage or distortion.
B. Fabricate panels in jig templates to hold members in proper alignment and position and to
assure consistent component placement.
C. Fastenings: Attach similar components by welding. Attach dissimilar components by welding,
bolting, or screw fasteners, as standard with manufacturer.
D. Wire tying of framing components is not permitted.
E. Fabrication Tolerances: Fabricate panels to a maximum allowable tolerance variation from
plumb, level, and true to line of 1/8" in 10'-0".
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 INSTALLATION
A. General: Install metal framing systems in accordance with manufacturer's printed or written
instructions and recommendations.
B. Runner Tracks: Install continuous tracks sized to match studs. Align tracks accurately to
layout at base and tops of studs.
1. At concrete, attach with Hilti X-DNI47P8 fasteners (or equal) at 12 inches on center,
staggered.
2. At steel beams, attach with Hilti X-DNI27P8 fasteners (or equal) at 12 inches on
center, staggered.
3. Provide fasteners at corners and ends of tracks.
4. Provide slip tracks where top of wall occurs under structural beams. Installation to
accommodate an deflection of ! inch or less.
C. Installation of Wall Studs: Secure studs to top and bottom runner tracks by either welding or
screw fastening at both inside and outside flanges.
1. Screws: #10 minimum.
D. Set studs plumb, except as needed for diagonal bracing or required for non-plumb walls or
warped surfaces and similar requirements.
E. Where stud system abuts structural columns or walls, including masonry walls, anchor ends
of stiffeners to supporting structure.
F. Install supplementary framing, blocking and bracing in metal framing system wherever walls
