A General: Comply with NAAMM “Metal Finishes Manual” for recommendations relative to
application and designations of finishes.
B. Finish designations prefixed by ‘AA’ conform to the system established by the Aluminum
Association for designating aluminum finishes.
C. Class 1 Clear Anodized Finish: AA-M12C22A41 (Mechanical finish: as fabricated, non-specular;
Chemical finish: etched, medium matter; Anodic Coating: Class 1 Architectural, clear anodic
coating, minimum 0.7 mil thickness, complying with AAMA 611.
2.04 SCHEDULED HARDWARE
A. Requirements for design, grade, function, finish, size, and other distinctive qualities of each type
of finish hardware are indicated in the “Hardware Schedule” at the end of this Section.
B. Manufacturer’s Product Designations: The product designations and name of one manufacturer
are listed for each hardware type required for the purpose of establishing minimum requirements.
Provide either the product designated or, where more than one manufacturer is specified above,
the comparable product of one of the other manufacturers that complies with requirements.
C. Make cutouts for required hardware specified under Section 08700 from templates furnished
there under. Factory machine and finish for all hardware.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 INSTALLATION (FRAMES)
A. Storefront components shall be set in prepared openings. Frames shall be set plumb, level, and
square. Sections installed in contact with steel or other dissimilar materials shall receive a heavy
coat of bituminous paint to insulate the two surfaces.
B. Aluminum frame for storefront glass shall be a “front-loaded” system. Profile of the frame may
vary from each manufacturer; however the proposed system must consider the heights and
lateral loading in effect to render the system stiff enough to withstand those forces and still allow
for roof load deflection. Refer to storefront wall sections for size, height and suggested profiles of
the storefront system.
3.02 INSTALLATION (DOORS)
A. Hang doors in adequately secured, square and plumb frames. After erection and glazing, check
and adjust all operating hardware.
B. Hardware for doors in Division 8 Section “Finish Hardware” shall be furnished by the aluminum
door supplier (except cylinders) and installed on the door at the factory by the door manufacturer.
C. Door manufacturer shall provide door bottoms, sweeps, weatherstripping, and piles at meeting
strikes.
3.03 CLEANUP
A. Refer to Section 01700.
B. Protect all exposed aluminum surfaces from staining or abrasion after installation.
