kynges came from Bulleyn the frensshe kinge ma<strong>de</strong><br />

the duke of Norffolke and the duke of Suffolke of<br />

the ordre of Saynt Mighill. And upon monday,<br />

whiche was the XXIX day of october, at Caleys, our<br />

kyng ma<strong>de</strong> the great mayster of France and the<br />

admyrall of Fraunce knyghtes of the garter. And<br />

that daye, there was a greate wrastelynge betwene<br />

englysshe men and frensshe men, before bothe the<br />

kinges ; the frensshe kynge had not but preestes that<br />

wrasteled, which were bygge men and stronge ; they<br />

were bretherne, but they had moost falles (i).<br />

And upon ye XXIX daye of october, the frensshe<br />

kynge <strong>de</strong>parted fro Caleys to Parys ward and our<br />

kynge broughthym as ferre as morgyson [Marquise],<br />

which is fro Caleys VII myle and so came to Caleys<br />

againe. And he purposeth (god wyllynge) to be at<br />

Caunterbury, the VIII daye of november and so<br />

home, whome God of His goodness ever préserve<br />

and sen<strong>de</strong> good passage and safe agayne into<br />

Englan<strong>de</strong>. Amen.<br />
