Essentially, this research shows that the two-way symmetrical model is the most ethical approach to public relations and
that ethical public relations also is the model most effective in meeting organizational goals (:308). If an organization is
credible, then it will be more persuasive when it communicates (:7).
Public relations departments help the organization to manage their independence by building stable, open, and trusting relationships
with strategic constituencies. (:11) We believe that public relations should be practiced to serve the public interest,
to develop mutual understanding between organizations and their publics, and to contribute to informed debate
about issues in society. (:9)
Citat 80: (Grunig 1992).
“Two-way symmetrical communications” – PR jargon for “learning as much as possible about activities and seeking to
initate two-way dialogue with them with a view to working together on an on-going basis to reach a situation that benefits
boths parties. Central to the two-way communications process is relationship building and an acceptance that compromise
on both sides may be necessary. (...) Two-way symmetrical communications offer a way forward where the
company does not have to give in to activists or persuade them to give in.” Denise Deegan, Managing Activism (Institute
of Public Relations).
afbalanceret hensyntagen:
Kodeks for miljøkommunikation
