14.4 Conclusion<br />

Power consumption has emerged as a key constraint in computing applications of almost all kinds.<br />

Today’s design trends point to the fact that the importance of power consumption will grow in the future.<br />

The intent of this chapter was to explain the reasons why this is so and to introduce the reader to the<br />

basic concepts and ideas behind power reduction techniques. The interested reader can refer to the listed<br />

references for more in-depth information.<br />
