When a call is successfully handed off to another cell, the bandwidth of old cell is released and reserved<br />

in the cell cluster of new cell.<br />

Non-real-time calls are more tolerant to delay as compared to real-time calls. Delay tolerance is<br />

equivalent to accepting variable service rate. This property of data traffic makes resource renegotiation<br />

possible in microcellular networks. Non-real-time calls receive higher service rates under low traffic<br />

conditions while, under heavy traffic conditions, the service rate available to them is kept at a minimum.<br />

Thus, the resource renegotiation scheme adapts to changing traffic conditions in the network.<br />
