Let me conclude with a summary of some of the issues that could be of interest for future
research:
— research into how Schroderus’ dictionary Lexicon latino-scondicum (1637) was actually
produced: to what extent did Finnish influence the lexicographic structure, who may have
collaborated in editing the dictionary and finally some examination of whether 1632 is a
possible date for the first edition.
— research to establish who edited Variarum Rerum Vocabula Latina, cum Svetica et
Finnonica interpretatione (1644–1668)
— research into who wrote the Finnish dialogue in Formulae Puerilium Colloquiorvm
(1644–1683)
— indexing Vocabularium Latino-Sveco-Germanica-Fennicum / En kort Orda-Book på
Latin/Swenska/Tyska och Finska / Yxi Lyhykäinen Sana-Kirja (1695)
— research into Lexicon pentaglotton (1686)
— indexation of and research into Martin Fogel’s Nomenclator Latino Finnicus (1669)
— establishing the identity of the author or authors of En Nyttig och Tydelig Anwisning Til
Swenska och Finska Språket (1730) and Muutamia Kanssa-Puheita (1772)
— closer study of the lexicographical structure of Ganander’s dictionary Nytt Finskt
Lexicon (1786–1787)
— research to establish what lexicographical material was eliminated from Ganander’s
dictionary Nytt Finskt Lexicon (1786–1787) by Renvall in the course of the production
of his own dictionary Suomalainen Sana-kirja (1823–1826)
— establishing the link between selection of lemma and current social conditions
— establishing and analysing the development of the lexicographic traditions of Swedish-
Finnish dictionary production
