Preoperative ultrasound evaluation of the veins and arteries

before both upper extremity and thigh hemodialysis access

placement may decrease complications related to access procedures

and improve overall access utility. Ater access placement,

ultrasound is useful in the assessment of complications including

stenosis, pseudoaneurysm, steal, and AVF nonmaturation.
