Lokhu kuyashayisana nokushiwo nguGoodman benoGoodman (2009) ababeka ukuthi:<br />

There is no reading without comprehension...Learning to read is learning to<br />

make sense <strong>of</strong> written language and teaching reading is supporting the<br />

development <strong>of</strong> comprehension...Everything necessary to the development <strong>of</strong><br />

reading comprehension is learned in the process <strong>of</strong> using written language to<br />

make sense...There are no skills to be learned prior to reading real<br />

meaningful texts...Vocabulary is built in the process <strong>of</strong> reading just as oral<br />

vocabulary is learned from oral communication....Nothing needs to be<br />

learned prior to using meaningful authentic texts in instructionReading is<br />
