Afrika, ucwaningo luyaveza ukuthi empeleni iningi labantu baseNingizimu Afrika<br />

abakukhuthalele ukufunda umbhalo; abaningi abanandaba nokufunda umbhalo futhi<br />

abakugqizi qakala lokho (Pretorius, 2002; Land, 2003; Sisulu, 2004; Tiemensma, 2007;<br />

ne-South Africa. Department <strong>of</strong> Arts and Culture & Print Industries Cluster Council,<br />

2007). Kanjalo noWafawarowa (2000) uyabeka ukuthi cishe amaphesenti angama-95<br />

ezincwadi ezidayiswa ezwenikazi lase-Afrika ziyizincwadi zokufunda ezisetshenziswa<br />

ezikhungweni zemfundo, hhayi izincwadi zokuzijabulisa nokunye okungale kokufundela<br />

isikole (academic books), uma ziqhathaniswa nezingamaphesenti angama-35<br />

zasemazweni ase-Europe. Ngamanye amazwi ukufunda kokuzijabulisa akuyona into<br />

evamile e-Afrika. Ngaphandle kwalokhu, lolu cwaningo lwaveza futhi ukuthi<br />

eNingizimu Afrika, zingamaphesenti angama-27 izikole ezinemitapo yolwazi (Pretorius<br />
