II The training program as it is now
The training program, developped according to
European models, began in September 1992.
Begin a Neurologist, Pychiatrist and Musictherapist, a
member of the board of French Musictherapy
Association, and a menber of the pedagogic team of
training course for “Art Therapy” and “Music-Therapy”
in Paris V - René Descartes University, Y thought that a
cooperation between the french University and
Regional Departament of Special Education of Madeira
Government would be of a grat interest.
A recognition and cooperative arrangement was
effective and a convention signed in Marcha 1992.
THE OBJETIVES OF THE TRAINING PROGAM ARE:
- to offer special education and music education
teachers and other techincians (orthophonists, psycho-

reeducators, etc...) other methods based on
pschological approachh for music in educaion, reeducation,
rehabilition and social and family integration
of the handicapped.
- to introduce psychotherapeutics appraches based on
sound and music, recptive and active music-therapy to
physicians, not only psichiatrists but all medical doctors,
to nurses, psychologists and therapists.
THE CONDITIONS OF ADMITION TO THE TRAINING
COURSE:
To be admitted to the program, students must have a
B.A. degree, musical training, and psychological or
pedagogical training.
THE STRUCTURE OF THE TRAINING COURSE:
it includes 2000 hours distribubed between:
- 6 weeks of intensive coursework
