<strong>Music</strong>Space is setting-up a national development<br />

strategy with a firm intention to create other centres<br />

nationwide. Each new centre will reflect the need <strong>of</strong> the<br />

particular community. Therapists and colleagues from<br />

many cities and also from more rural settings have<br />

expressed serious interest in establishing such centres<br />

in their own communities.<br />

Nottingham <strong>Music</strong>Space will be starting operations in<br />

September <strong>1993</strong>.<br />

There are current discussions with colleagues in<br />

London, Edinburgh and Belfast with a view to potential<br />

links.<br />

Management<br />

and Sources <strong>of</strong> Funding<br />

<strong>Music</strong>Space is managed by its Council which includes<br />

leading figures from the musical, academic, educational<br />

and business communities. Hard-working groups <strong>of</strong><br />

volunteers support some <strong>of</strong> the administrative work and<br />

fund-raising activities. The growing list <strong>of</strong> well-known<br />

Patrons adds support to the development <strong>of</strong> the trust.<br />

Funding for the activities <strong>of</strong> <strong>Music</strong>Space comes from a<br />

mixture <strong>of</strong> sources: statutory bodies such as the<br />

Departments <strong>of</strong> Health, Education and Social Services;<br />

other charities and trusts, company giving and private<br />

donations.<br />

Summary<br />

All is all <strong>Music</strong>Space aims for able-bodied and dis-abled<br />

people alike to come together through active<br />

participation in music. This is a core philosophy <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Music</strong>Space, the trust recognising that music has the
