STEVEN'S CAPACITY FOR COMPROMISE<br />

Steven can attend to his autistic interests and needs,<br />

while (reluctantly) engaging in the 'boring' social world:<br />

a goodbye song with the therapist.<br />

Note: he initiates language, maintains attention to his<br />

own and my interests, and spontaneously joins in a<br />

joyful, rather exasperated finale!<br />

Steven finished music therapy with me last week. In the<br />

autumn he will go to a school for autistic children. His<br />

school and speech therapy reports are very<br />

encouraging, particularly as regards:
