Medicine (IJAM) has taken its place beside longestablished<br />

journals in the field, being included in many<br />

hospital, university and public libraries, as well as<br />

information networks such as CAIRSS which is now on<br />

line and being accessed from several continents.<br />

A recent entire North Carolina Medical Journal was<br />

entitled Special Issue-Turning Points:<br />

Arts Medicine. Guest editor for this edition was Patrick<br />

Kenan, M.D.<br />

Rhythm For Life, which came into being in February <strong>of</strong><br />

1992, is conducting research in a number <strong>of</strong> hospitals<br />

and senior citizen centers, with varied populations,<br />

including dementia up to advance Alzheimers patients.<br />

In January, <strong>1993</strong> a research team was assembled at the<br />

University <strong>of</strong> Texas San Antonio to address "Setting an<br />

Agenda for Neuromusical Research". Dr. Karl Pribram,<br />

Keynote Speaker for this Congress, and I was part <strong>of</strong><br />

that team which will meet again several times including<br />

a few days prior to the Conference <strong>of</strong> the International<br />

Society for <strong>Music</strong> in Medicine to be held in San Antonio<br />

in March, 1994.<br />

Publicaciones, recursos, tendencias y organizaciones<br />

desde el Congreso previo en Río de Janeiro serán<br />

presentados. El ímpetu mundial que está acercando la<br />

música en particular y las artes en general al mundo de<br />

la medicina es cada vez más fuerte.<br />

Hay cada vez más y más puntos de evidencia de la<br />

mayor aceptación por parte de la pr<strong>of</strong>esión médica de<br />

las terapias relacionadas con las artes en general y la<br />

<strong>Music</strong>oterapia en particular.<br />

Publicaciones como "<strong>Music</strong>Medicine", editada por los<br />

doctores Ralph Spintge y Roland Droh, están teniendo<br />
