Medicine (IJAM) has taken its place beside longestablished
journals in the field, being included in many
hospital, university and public libraries, as well as
information networks such as CAIRSS which is now on
line and being accessed from several continents.
A recent entire North Carolina Medical Journal was
entitled Special Issue-Turning Points:
Arts Medicine. Guest editor for this edition was Patrick
Kenan, M.D.
Rhythm For Life, which came into being in February of
1992, is conducting research in a number of hospitals
and senior citizen centers, with varied populations,
including dementia up to advance Alzheimers patients.
In January, 1993 a research team was assembled at the
University of Texas San Antonio to address "Setting an
Agenda for Neuromusical Research". Dr. Karl Pribram,
Keynote Speaker for this Congress, and I was part of

that team which will meet again several times including
a few days prior to the Conference of the International
Society for Music in Medicine to be held in San Antonio
in March, 1994.
Publicaciones, recursos, tendencias y organizaciones
desde el Congreso previo en Río de Janeiro serán
presentados. El ímpetu mundial que está acercando la
música en particular y las artes en general al mundo de
la medicina es cada vez más fuerte.
Hay cada vez más y más puntos de evidencia de la
mayor aceptación por parte de la profesión médica de
las terapias relacionadas con las artes en general y la
Musicoterapia en particular.
Publicaciones como "MusicMedicine", editada por los
doctores Ralph Spintge y Roland Droh, están teniendo
un gran impacto internacional. El "International Journal
