Based on a theme, a session includes music, poetry,<br />

art, relaxation and discussion, finishing with some social<br />

time with c<strong>of</strong>fee and cakes. Offering group-support,<br />

time for reflection and self-expression, these weekly<br />

events have become popular and patients even insist<br />

on scheduling treatment not to miss the therapy group!<br />

1 After a brief relaxation, participants listened to a<br />

piece <strong>of</strong> classical orchestral music. They were<br />

encouraged to try and identify whatever feeling or<br />

thought that came to them.<br />

"Warmth, light, sadness" - Words <strong>of</strong> Martha (Case<br />

2-4 As I mentioned, sessions are based on a theme. It<br />

creates a symbolic frame and structure. Here are<br />

pictures from an October session and our theme was<br />

"tree".<br />

Case 3 - Alice<br />

The following three pieces <strong>of</strong> art were made by Alice, a<br />

young mother <strong>of</strong> two, who was my client for seven<br />

months. She had passed a hard and long period <strong>of</strong><br />

illness and lost mobility in one leg. Now, she was cured<br />

and expected to return to a normal, healthy life.<br />

However, Alice wished to remain in the role <strong>of</strong> a patient,<br />

remaining weak, not having to bother about<br />

responsibilities, receiving lots <strong>of</strong> attention and care.<br />
