therapeutic role is usually only to be a moderator <strong>of</strong><br />

emerging interactions.<br />

The summary <strong>of</strong> music therapy session includes the<br />

main thread <strong>of</strong> all verbalized feelings in the group. This<br />

second group conversation homogenisises the patients<br />

again, creates emotional closeness and the feelings <strong>of</strong><br />

security are strenghted.<br />

Just at the end <strong>of</strong> a session (this happens in 70% <strong>of</strong> all<br />

music therapy sessions) they usually express a wish to<br />

listen to the music for the third time.<br />

In past eight years a “top ten” <strong>of</strong> the most “effective”<br />

compasotions (which elicited similar emotional<br />

experiences, caused deep empathy, many group<br />

interactions and deep relaxation) were made on the<br />

basis <strong>of</strong> a comparisson <strong>of</strong> patient`s experiiences after<br />

listening to the same compositions. Similarity in<br />

emotional experiences did not depend in inteligence,<br />

sex, age or length <strong>of</strong> hospitalisation. To those<br />

compositions the patients listened with the highest level<br />

<strong>of</strong> contentration and each member <strong>of</strong> a group could<br />

verbalize his feeling.<br />

I would like to enumerate some <strong>of</strong> these compositions<br />

and quote the patients most frequently used words.<br />

Debussy: Clair de lune. Relaxation, pleasure, calmness,<br />

experience <strong>of</strong> beauty, love, associations with nature,<br />

(the sky, water).<br />

Bach: Aria. Calness, sadness is beautiful, harmony,<br />

contact, relaxation, rest, consolation, trust in God.<br />

Massenet: Meditation. Beauty, optimism, relaxation,<br />

relaxed weeping, being wmbraced, happy childhood,<br />

happiness from the Heaven, harmony.<br />

Although there is no concrete evaluation <strong>of</strong> the<br />

treatment effectiveness <strong>of</strong> music therapy in our Mental
