- Baby-massage, which has the primary aim <strong>of</strong><br />

facilitating and strengthening the affective contact<br />

between parents and child, to improve the child's overall<br />

perception <strong>of</strong> his body.<br />

- Practical activities with mothers or fathers,<br />

with the purpose <strong>of</strong> inventing and constructing play<br />

material for the child.<br />

- Psychological counselling, to provide the<br />

families with necessary support, paying particular<br />

attention to the relationship between parents and child.<br />

We also have at the family's disposal an<br />

ophthalmologist, a neuropsychiatrist, a low vision<br />

trainer, a speech therapist, a music therapist and an<br />

optometrist, as specialized advisers.<br />

Physiotherapy in early intervention.<br />

Already in the first month <strong>of</strong> life, the child begins to<br />

interact with the world around him, and through<br />

movement learns simples activities before going on to<br />

develop those which are more complex.<br />

The first movements are the basis <strong>of</strong> his future<br />

development, which is the postnatal continuation <strong>of</strong> the<br />

maturation <strong>of</strong> the sensorimotor process which was first<br />

begun during the child's intrauterine life.<br />

Every child with problems (disorder <strong>of</strong> neurological,<br />

sensory and psychological development, prematurity,<br />

hypotonia, and so on) is a human being with his own<br />

special individuality. It is <strong>of</strong> vital importance to recognise<br />

the major problem <strong>of</strong> the child and his family and on this<br />

basis to establish a therapeutic program which will<br />

continually take into account the child's particular<br />

needs.<br />

What is the child able to do? How does he do it? What<br />

can he not do? and for what reason? How does he<br />

move in space? How does he get his food? How should
