imagery commenced with her in a barque, going to
another realm (the unconscious). The colour of the
realm is midnight blue and black. She travels down a
path and comes to an asylum. She wants to leave her
husband in the asylum but doesn't know how he will
cope. She stays with him, then decides she must leave
him. She closes the door on the asylum and walks into
the forest where she finds a cheetah. Later she takes
down the walls of the asylum and reads her husband a
story. (The terms "madness" and "asylum" are those
used by my client).
The symbolism in this session is profoundly important.
She travels to another reaim (the unconscious). She
comes to an asylum ( a place to leave reasoning.... also
a place for her to confront her fear of 'madness'). After
some agonising moments she leaves her husband
there, and in so doing, separates herself from his
'madness'. She plays with the cheetah in the woods,

then returns to the asylum where she takes the walls
down (the barriers of fear, or barriers to a healthy open
relationship. She then reads her husband a story
(depicting her mothering role of him).
In session 8, she starts to build a new house (new sense
of self), and in session 9 she again calls on archetypal
images to help her process. She is in Corinth with
Oedipus, Medea and Cassandra. Oedipus was to have
killed his father in order to marry his mother, Medea
killed her own children in revenge for Jason's deceit.
Cassandra in mythology was given the power of
visioning, but was cursed that noone would believe her
visions. In this imagery Faye identified with the deceitful,
devouring, craziness of her parents.
In session 10, to the music of Debussy, Holst and
Vaughan-Williams, she goes into her body- she walks
