Hoofstuk 5: Die post-apartheid verhaal?
p306
the embrace of different races, tribes, nationalities, socio-economic
groups, genders, sexual orientations, age groups, ‘normal’ and
disabled people. To this list one could add the embrace of humans and
nature.
In aansluiting
by die tweede woord vir versoening sê Koopman (2008:163): “Reconciliation as
hilasmos has to do with the expiation of wrongs and stumbling blocks to atonement (atone-ment).”
Meiring (2003a:255)
sê:
To speak of reconciliation means to speak out against injustice,
missing issues of affluence and poverty, of unemployment and Aids,
discussing highly emotive issues of land, of affirmative action, of
restorative justice and reparation. Not everyone is overly enthusiastic
about these issues... But the issues are ignored at our peril.
Hiermee stem August (2005:21) volmondig saam: “Critical to the process is the fact
that reconciliation and reconstruction or transformation are flip sides of the same coin.”
Hierin word hy ondersteun deur Smit (2005:363) wat sê “There is... no real
reconciliation without addressing the blatant and crying social and economic divisions
and injustices in society – and vice versa.”
Sy vriend sê: “Piet, of course we want reconciliation.
Who in his right mind does not want reconciliation in South Africa? But then, please, at
the lowest possible price. Uitverkopingsprys!” (Meiring 2003a:255). In reaksie hierop
