Intel ® 80312 I/O Companion ChipTest Features14.1.5.1 Test Logic Reset StateIn this state, test logic is disabled to allow normal operation of the Intel ® 80312 I/O companionchip. Upon entering the Test_Logic_Reset state, the device identification register is loaded. Nomatter what the present state of the controller, it enters Test-Logic-Reset state when the TMS inputis held high (1 2 ) for at least five rising edges of TCK. The controller remains in this state whileTMS is high. The TAP controller is also forced to enter this state asynchronously by assertingTRST#.When the controller exits the Test-Logic-Reset controller state as a result of an erroneous lowsignal on the TMS line at the time of a rising edge on TCK (for example, a glitch due to externalinterference), it returns to the Test-Logic-Reset state following three rising edges of TCK with theTMS line at the intended high logic level.14.1.5.2 Run-Test/Idle StateThe TAP controller enters the Run-Test/Idle state between scan operations. The controller remainsin this state as long as TMS is held low. Instructions that do not call functions generate no activityin the test logic while the controller is in this state. The instruction register and all test data registersretain their current state. When TMS is high on the rising edge of TCK, the controller moves to theSelect-DR-Scan state. The instruction register does not change while the TAP controller is in thisstate.14.1.5.3 Select-DR-Scan StateThe Select-DR-Scan state is a transitional controller state. While in the Select-DR-Scan state, thetest data registers selected by the current instruction retain their previous states. When TMS is heldlow on the rising edge of TCK, the controller moves into the Capture-DR state. When TMS is heldhigh on the rising edge of TCK, the controller moves into the Select-IR-Scan state. SeeSection 14.1.5.10, “Select-IR Scan State” on page 14-21. The instruction register does not changewhile the TAP controller is in this state.14.1.5.4 Capture-DR StateIn this state, the selected test data register is loaded with its parallel value on the rising edge ofTCK. When the controller is in the Capture-DR state and the current instruction is sample/preload,the boundary-scan register captures input pin data on the rising edge of TCK. Test data registersthat do not have a parallel input are not changed. The boundary-scan registers cannot be updatedfrom the parallel inputs any other way. The instruction register does not change while the TAPcontroller is in this state. When TMS is high on the rising edge of TCK, the controller enters the Exit1-DR state. When TMSis low on the rising edge of TCK, the controller enters the Shift-DR state.14.1.5.5 Shift-DR StateIn the Shift-DR state, the test data register selected by the current instruction shifts data one bitposition nearer to the TDO serial output on each rising edge of TCK. All other test data registersretain their previous values during this state. The instruction register does not change while the TAP controller is in this state. When TMS is high on the rising edge of TCK, the controller enters the Exit1-DR state. When TMSis low on the rising edge of TCK, the controller remains in the Shift-DR state.14-20 Developer’s Manual
