structure and the function of language. Although there are much controversy over them in the
psychotherapy circle, those viewpoints enable us to deeply think about some very important
psychotherapy issues which include: promoting naturalization of psychotherapy; removing the
unhuman trend of psychotherapy; thinking highly of the significance of culture in psychotherapy;
improving the practical value of psychotherapy and so on.
5083.195 Introduction of universal design in an international ancient city kamakura-accessibility

Kamakura is not an easy city to access, although it is a famous historical city where the 3rd
ancient capital was located at 13C.. This study deals with universal design practice in renaissance
of an ancient city in modern age. A field study including observation of mass control against 2
million visitors at the New Year days revealed that some 10% among 331 stores along the visiting
road were ready to accept wheel-chaired visitors. Further suggestion by the study showed high
necessity of friendly arrangement; smoothing a road surface gap, installing legible guide signs and
multi-purpose toilet facility.
5083.196 The symbol formats of airspeed, altitude and heading for military aircraft, Mingzhao

Airspeed, altitude and heading are of the critical flight data that a PFR shall provide for military
aircraft. Three symbol formats of the data on HUD, i.e. analog scale, digital window and analog
scale with digital window were dynamically designed and presented with computer program
simulating military aircraft HUD in an aviation psychology experiment to select the favored
format. 151 male pilots participated in the experiment and give their opinions about the formats.
The results were found that the symbol format of the analog scale with digital window had the
best performance and was approved by the pilots.

Whether subjective contour perception requires attention or not is a hot research topic for several
years. Though a lot of works have been done on this topic, the discussion to this problem is still
open. We approach this problem using a visual search paradigm. Unlike the usual visual search
experiments that approach this problem, we compare the difference between performance of visual
search task with subjective contour and that with real contour. The results of our experiment show
that subjective contour perception requires attention.

Examine if individuals with cleft lip and/or palate (CLP) have an altered coping resources and
defense mechanisms secondary to their esthetic and functional handicap. A CLP group of 54
young adults (m= 22 years) and a control group of 39 young adults (m=23 years) were examined.
