With measuring scales we explored the relationship between adolescents’ perceived social support
from significant others and the diverse academic self-regulatory styles to detect the effect of social
support on the internalization of academic motivation. Perceived social-support from parents and
teachers was found to relate positively to deep sorts of adolescents’ academic motivation, and be
an effective predictor of relatively internalized motivation. The results produced evidence in the
perspective of social support in support of the viewpoint held by SDT that the internalization of
motivation is a process of socialization.
2028.61 The relationship of emotions aroused by external regulation to self-determination and

Our preliminary work explored the relationship between adults’ self-determination, subjective
vitality and their emotions aroused by external regulation in their early years to verify the
hypothesis that emotions play a central role in personality organism. Most of the negative
emotions have been found to relate negatively to self-determination and subjective vitality while
positive emotions positively to them. Furthermore, interest and sadness have been found to be
effective predictors of self-determination while pleasure and disdain effective predictors of
subjective vitality. The results suggest why the basic emotions theory deals with basic emotions as
the core of personality.

Achievement motivation has been well-documented as a crucial factor in life-span development.
However, less related research has been done concerning the difference between the Western
individual-oriented and the Chinese social-oriented. The present research developed the
Achievement Motivation Questionnaire of Chinese Middle-school Student (AMCMS). Three
major factors were revealed and confirmed to the preconceptualization in a sample of 300 junior
high students: self-efficacy, achievement goal (master and performance), and attribution style
(effort, luck, ability, and task difficulty). The questionnaire was then administered in 286 junior
high students. Results have shown self-efficacy, achievement goal and ability attribution strongly
correlated with learning performance.
2028.63 Premarital sexual relations of Tehran pre-graduate university boys, Nader Jebelli, Iran
The theme is derived from one hundred questionnaires and interviews of university boy students.
Forty percent of the participants claim to have had at least one such experience. Twenty five
percent had only communicated about it. Five percent declared that they had relationships but
decided not to continue for different reasons. Fifteen percent were eager to have relationship under
the Temporary Marriage Law. Ten percent refrained from participating in the research. Five
percent reject the whole idea. Attraction is pointed out as the main contributing factor. Somatic
and psychosomatic problems caused by these relationships are discussed in the paper.
