The author deals with history, presence and future of psychology in the Czech Republic. He
reflects the pre-history and origins of Czech psychology (influences form Germany and Austria),
development of psychology after establishing Czechoslovakia (1918) including beginnings of
applied psychology known as psychotechnics, methodological issues, research problems, results,
interpretations, history of psychology under totalitarian regimes and revivals of psychology in
sixties and nineties of the 20th century. The most important application fields of contemporary
psychology in Czech Republic, research institutes, universities, and journals are presented. The
perspectives and future tasks of psychology including problems of national capacities building are
enumerated.

1107.1 A research of the influence of teachers’ background diversity on the psychological
health in rural middle school, Dong-Bin Li 1 , Yan-Hong Diao 2 , 1 Gannan Teachers’ College,

There is a fundamental difference in the scores of physical, psychological health and self-testing
health between school teachers of different education levels; The difference proves to be mighty in
those teachers of different marriage states; There exists a great difference between those from rural
and urban or suburbs in such three sub-diversities. Conclusions: A higher education level leads to
a better performance of teachers’ psychological health; marriage state proves to be a key factor in
the improvement of psychological health that can not be ignored; those teachers living and
working in rural have greater trouble in psychological health.
1107.2 Development of a new program based on IRT for psychological and educational analysis,

There are some features in Chinese tests, e.g. the scoring categories of an item over 15.Neither
PASCALE nor MULTILOG deals with these kinds of data. The new program, known as ANOTE,
designed by us offsets this limitation. There are many functional modules with ANOTE, such as
estimating parameter, equating test, computing information function. Empirical study shows that
estimating parameter function not only is satisfied with the estimation accuracy, but also is more
robust than MULTILOG when difference between the values of difficulty parameters of the
adjacent categories is very small.

This study was to develop a new instrument for assessing Chinese children’s memory functions,
the Memory Assessment Battery for Children (MABC). The MABC was developed within an
