help us to understand and define the activities
conducted by the Lisbon Inquisition Tribunal and
its functions, which mainly included judging the
following acts, which were considered to be
crimes by the Church and State:

❚ Book censorship

and/or objects whose circulation was prohibited

Digital Archives in Mexico. Breakthroughs?
Perspectives...
The lack of specialised professionals and specific
regulations and provisions for digital archive
records entails risks and threatens the definite
loss of these records, which, due to their informational
and testimonial nature, should be preserved
for as long as possible as part of society’s
digital patrimony. This paper wishes to offer a
general overview of the situation of digital
archives in Mexico regarding professional training,
provisions already accepting the use of digital
archive records, as well as the present regulations
on archive preservation and organisation.
We will also highlight the challenge we face regarding
the reliability, integrity and authenticity
of these materials, which are essential for individuals
to exert their right to information, as well as
to preserve the history of society and institutions.
Different activities conducted to date are also
presented alongside the perspectives in the
realms of research and professional training and
qualification. The proposals made by the National
General Archives with regard to legislation and
regulations on digital archive preservation are also
included.
