in the months of June and December every year.
Training Workshops for Editors
One of the main features of CLD is its training workshop for the editors of children magazines
which are being published in Pakistan. At the moment there are almost forty children magazines
in Pakistan. CLD with an aim to provide the editors an Islamic Orientation with the technical
training about editing and publishing magazines for children. The editors from all over Pakistan
come to Islamabad to participate in this productive program. This is a very important program
in which editors of different magazines gather at one place and discuss and share their experiences
to each other. Children magazines are an important organ of a society. They publish reading
material for the moral development and character building for youth and young generation.
Seminars and Workshops
Youth and children are the assets of a nation. They have to be given due respect and attanetion
to build a better nation. For this purpose, CLD organizes each year consultative worksops and
seminars of senior writers at national level. These big minds of the nation thinks about new
ways to cope with the needs of the new age. Further the participants of these seminars present
research papers and articles to devise and formulate new ideas for the development of the new
generation.
Awards and Story Writing Competitions
Children Literature Department (CLD) along with training workshops and seminars also organizes
competitions of story writing and awards. Writers from all over Pakistan participate in these
competitions and send their creative writings to win these awards.
Da’wah Adabi Award
This award is being announced once in a year. CLD encourages the talented and ambitious writers
(both male and female) by awarding cash prize on their literary work to produce healthy
children literature. Unpublished manuscript (max 5000 words) in the form of children stories
are asked from writers. The themes of this competition focuses on the character building of the
new generation. Cash prizes amounting from Rs.5000 to Rs.25000 is given to the winners of
this award. Till now nine Da’wah Awards have been awarded to a number of writers on their
creative writings and works.
Da’wah Orient Adadbi Award
CLD and Orient Advertising Pvt. Ltd jointly organize this activity annually in which cash award
is given to writers on their published works. This award is given in five categories that are drama,
story, poem, novel and humor for children that are published in any children magazine during
a calendar year. The amount of the cash award is from Rs.5000 to Rs.20000. These five
awards are named to five famous Urdu authors and writers. The award for drama is named to
Mirza Adeeb; award for poems for children is named to Ismail Meerthi; story award is named to
Syed Nazar Zaidi; Novel Award is named to Aziz Asari; and Mizah Award is named to Imtiaz
Ali Taj. Eight DAwah Orient Awards has been awarded till now.
Story Writing Competition
Story writing competitions are being organized occasionally by CLD. In which stories for children
on a specific topic are accepted. It announced through advertisement in national dailies.
Later these stories and entries are published by Da’wah Academy.
Publications
One of the main objectives of CLD is to prepare interesting and useful children literature according
to the psychological needs of the children and youth of different ages. Children Literature
Department publishes a large number of books for the character building and moral development
of children each year. More than one hundred titles for children have been published by
