BOARD OF THE GREEN CLOATH: División <strong>de</strong>l gabinete real a <strong>la</strong>s ór<strong>de</strong>nes <strong>de</strong>l Lord<br />

Steward (administrador), el Board of the Green Cloath (l<strong>la</strong>mado así por el color <strong>de</strong><br />

cobertor <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> mesa a <strong>la</strong> que los oficiales se sentaban), podía funcionar como<br />

tribunal <strong>de</strong> justicia para mantener el or<strong>de</strong>n <strong>de</strong>ntro <strong>de</strong> los límites <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> corte.<br />

BONA WAVIATA: Bienes que han sido robados y posteriormente abandonados en<br />

<strong>la</strong> huída. “Waifs (Bona Waviata) are goods which are stolen and waived upon Pursuit<br />

(for Fear of being Apprehen<strong>de</strong>d) by the Thief in his Flight, and upon that account forfeited to<br />

the Lord of the Manor. The Reason of this forfeiture is a Punishment of the Owner of the<br />

Goods, for not Pursuing and Bringing the Thief to be Attained. If the Thief had not the<br />

Goods in Possession upon Pursuit, there is no Forfeiture; and then the Owner may seize them<br />

BOND AND JUDGEMENT: Escrito mediante el que una persona (obligor) se<br />

compromete a pagar una cierta suma <strong>de</strong> dinero a otro (obligee) poniendo sus<br />

se usaba para referirse a cualquier tipo <strong>de</strong> cárcel.<br />

CANT: Jerga secreta empe<strong>la</strong>da por algunos <strong>de</strong>lincuentes.<br />

CAPIAS IN WITHERNAM: “In an action of rep<strong>la</strong>cing, the reprisal of other goods in lieu of those<br />

taken by at first distress and eloigned; also the writ commanding the sheriff to take the<br />

reprisal” (O.E.D.)<br />

CAPITAL PUNISHMENT: Pena máxima. Pena <strong>de</strong> muerte. Se <strong>de</strong>nominaba Capital<br />

Crimes a los <strong>de</strong>litos castigados con <strong>la</strong> pena <strong>de</strong> muerte.<br />

CERTIORARI: Or<strong>de</strong>n emitida por un alto tribunal para que <strong>la</strong> documentación <strong>de</strong> un<br />

caso se transfiera a un tribunal <strong>de</strong> rango inferior.<br />
