1555 with additions: those refusing to contribute to the poor after exhortation
by a bishop may be bound to appear before JPs who can assess them; fines for
those refusing to be collectors for the poor.

(i) Earlier statutes repealed.
(ii) Vagabonds to be whipped and burned through the ear by order of
sessions, unless taken into service.
(iii) JPs to register names of 'aged, decayed and impotent poor', decide how
much they require and assess 'a1l the inhabitants' to contribute weekly to
their relief, on pain of committal to gaol.
(iv) Collectors of assessments and overseers of the poor to be appointed,
and monthly 'views and searches' of poor made.
(v) Returned vagabonds to be set to work and children bound to service.
(vi) Jps may license beggars if too many to be relieved otherwise.
