Estos dos documentos muestran <strong>de</strong>litos castigados con <strong>la</strong> pena <strong>de</strong><br />

muerte. El documento 1a es <strong>de</strong> 1602<strong>de</strong> los Kent Assizes. Se trataba <strong>de</strong> uno <strong>de</strong> tres <strong>de</strong>litos<br />

<strong>de</strong> asalto <strong>de</strong> caminos cometidos por estos tres hombres, juzgados en Assizes. El documento<br />

1b también proce<strong>de</strong> <strong>de</strong> Kent, en 1626. <strong>de</strong> trataba <strong>de</strong>l único <strong>de</strong>lito cometido por William<br />

May.<br />

85. John Harrison, Thomas Neville and Christopher Broom [as84] on 10 Feb 1602 assaulted<br />

Augustine Smith in the queen's highway at Chatham so that his life was <strong>de</strong>spaired of, and<br />

feloniously took and carried away from his person a dagger (6d), a knife (3d), a pair of gloves<br />

(2d), a cypress (12d) and 5s in coin which belonged to Smith. E.B.<br />

[Endorsed] True bill; witness Augustine Smith.<br />

56. Indictment of William May of Charing, gar<strong>de</strong>ner, for burg<strong>la</strong>ry. On 24 Nov.<br />

1625 he burgled the house of John Deeryng, gent., at Charing and stole 2 pairs of<br />

sheets (10.s), 6 shirts (6s.), 5 smocks (5s.), 2 napkins (Is.), a sword (10s.) and a silk<br />

scarf (10s.). (Eldred)<br />
