<strong>La</strong> <strong>Narrativa</strong> <strong>de</strong> <strong>Henry</strong> <strong>Fielding</strong> y <strong>la</strong> <strong>Sociedad</strong> <strong>Inglesa</strong> <strong>de</strong>l <strong>Siglo</strong> <strong>XVIII</strong><br />

and that it shall be <strong>la</strong>wful to and for the court of the king’s the court<br />

and for the court of the king’s bench, or the justices of oyer and<br />

terminer, or general gaol-<strong>de</strong>livery for the county, where the offence is<br />

sworn in such information to have been committed, upon producing<br />

to them such or<strong>de</strong>r in council, to award execution against such<br />

offen<strong>de</strong>r or offen<strong>de</strong>rs, in such manner, as if he or they had been<br />

convicted and attained in the said court of king’s bench, or before<br />

such justices of oyer and terminer, or general gaol-<strong>de</strong>liver respectively.<br />

V. And be it enacted by the authority aforesaid, That all and every<br />

person and persons, who shall after the time appointed and aforesaid,<br />

for the surren<strong>de</strong>r of any person or persons so charged upon oath with<br />

any of the offences aforesaid, be expired, concealed, aid, abet or<br />

succour, such person or persons, knowing him or them to have been<br />

so charged as aforesaid, and to have been required to surren<strong>de</strong>r him<br />

or themselves, by such or<strong>de</strong>r of or<strong>de</strong>rs as aforesaid, being <strong>la</strong>wfully<br />

convicted thereof, shall be guilty of felony, without benefit of the<br />

clergy.<br />

VI. Provi<strong>de</strong>d nevertheless, and it is hereby <strong>de</strong>c<strong>la</strong>red and enacted That<br />

nothing herein contained shall be constructed to prevent or hin<strong>de</strong>r<br />

any judge, justice of the peace, magistrate, officer or minister of<br />

justice whatsoever, from taking, apprehending and securing, such<br />

offen<strong>de</strong>r or offen<strong>de</strong>rs, against whom such information shall be given,<br />

and for requiring whose surren<strong>de</strong>r such or<strong>de</strong>r in council shall be ma<strong>de</strong><br />

as aforesaid, by the ordinary course of <strong>la</strong>w; an in case such offen<strong>de</strong>r<br />

or offen<strong>de</strong>rs, against whom such information, and for requiring<br />

whose surren<strong>de</strong>r such or<strong>de</strong>r in council shall bee ma<strong>de</strong> as aforesaid,<br />

shall be taken and secured in or<strong>de</strong>r to be brought to justice, before<br />

the time shall be expired, within which he or they shall be required to<br />

surren<strong>de</strong>r him or themselves, by such or<strong>de</strong>r in council as aforesaid,<br />

that then in such case no further proceedings shall be had upon such<br />

or<strong>de</strong>r ma<strong>de</strong> in council against him or them so taken and secured as<br />

aforesaid, but he or they shall be brought to trial by due curse of <strong>la</strong>w;<br />

anything herein before contained to the contrary in any wise<br />

notwithstanding.<br />
