Writer Vocabularies of Ukrainian Authors

1. Introduction
Writer lexicography is the vocabulary aggregate devoted to the description
of some writer language (Бук, 2006, с. 101). Writer lexicography is very popular
today, this is caused at least by two reasons: first, by the active interest to writer
idiolect features and, second, by the tendency to the lexicographic parametrization.
The main idea of the lexicographic parametrization is “to present different, in
ideal all, results of linguistic descriptions in the vocabulary form” (Караулов,
1988, с. 8). The researchers’ desire for discovering different aspects of word
figurative usage, and that is why new lexicographic types appear.
The language material for dictionary and vocabulary compilation in
Ukrainian had been treated manually until recently. In last years, the development
of computational techniques caused some special changes of vocabulary types.
In this paper, we present generalized review of writer vocabularies of Ukrainian
authors aiming to show their evolution. The description of these works is given,
common and different features between them are revealed.
2. Historical background
The vocabulary based on the literature works reaches Ancient Greece. At
that time, the glossary of obscure words for Homer poems was compiled. The
Ukrainian lexicography begins from similar works for theological books
(Німчук, 2004, с. 296–297). In English lexicography, the vocabularies of
William Shakespeare language form the whole epoch. The vocabularies of
Jeffrey Chaucer, John Milton, as well as Johann-Wolfgang Goethe in German
are well known.
This field is being developed from the middle of 20th century with the special
energy. In this time writer vocabularies appear in different countries, in particular
Slavonic, for instance, Polish Adam Mickiewicz (Górski – Hrabec, 1962–1983),
Jan Chrzyostom Pasek (Koneczna – Doroszewski, 1965–1973), Jan Kochanowski
(Kucała, 1994–2003); Bulgarian Nikola Vaptzarov (Божков – Генадиева, 1960)
and Hristo Botev (Крилова, 1996); Serbian Milorad Pavić (Vasić, 1998),
Svetlana Velmar-Janković (Vasić, 2000), David Albaharij (Vasić, 2001), Milorad
Danojlić (Vasić, 2002); Byelorussian Francysk Skaryna (Анічэнка, 1977–1984),
Janka Kupala (Анічэнка, 1997–2003); Russian Alexander Pushkin (Виноградов,
