3.4. The frequency dictionary characterises the word and wordform by the
number (absolute and relative) of its occurrences in the text. Its main distinction
from the other dictionary types is frequency order of the items in the list: from
the most frequent word to the word with frequency 1. This type of dictionary
can be used for author’s language richness determination, statistical
parametrization of text and in stylometry.
Usually frequency dictionaries are compiled by computer programs and
consist of frequency list of word (in the dictionary form), frequency list of
wordform and word list in the alphabetic order (for searching opportunities). In
Ukrainian lexicography there are frequency dictionary of the same writers as
concordance: Taras Shevchenko (Ільницький – Гавриш, 2001, т. IV, с. 3021)
and novel “The Cross-Paths” by Ivan Franko (Бук – Ровенчак, 2006b).
3.5. In glossary, the explanation of unintelligible words from writer’s work
or works is given, for example, dialectic, outdated, author’s neologisms and so
on. After a text illustrations are given. Often a glossary supplement of a particular
fiction, but separate books of this type are also known, e. g., for the works by
Vasyl’ Stus (Оліфіренко, 2003):
АКРИДИ (< грец. akris (akridos) — сарана), -рид, мн. 1. біол. Комахи
родини саранових. 2. перен. Живитися акридами і диким медом — мізерно
харчуватися, голодувати. Я тіло нагострив на чаї та акридах,/ а душу —
пошукай. І не питай. / Тойящосин не чує вже мене./ Тойящобатько вже не
чую сина. (П-2:191).
4. Conclusions
Summarizing, one can say that Ukrainian writer lexicography has rich
attainment. The works of many authors are elaborated in vocabulary’s form:
Taras Shevchenko, Ivan Franko, Lesja Ukrajinka, Hryhorij Kvitka-Osnov’ja-
