During the 1960 decade, no political, economic, cultural, social, religious,sports, corporatist institution has escaped the tutelage of the State- Party. Here again we observe the influence of the Kemalism. So duringthe first years of the independence the State has had an overall controlöver the important areas of the economy. Besides, it has opted for aplanned economy and for agricultural collectivisation. It's only in the beginningof the 70s that the State had given up this policy and chosen toopen up to the exterior and to somewhat liberalise its economy.At the political level as vvell, the importance of a state controlled policyis seen in the choice of a one party regime: the Neo Destour thatchanges since 1964 into the P.S.D. (Parti Socialiste Destourien) and had atotal monopoly on the political life. Here again the kemalist influence isquite obvious on the Tunisian leaders. Hadn't Mustapha Kemal establishedthe Turkish Republican Party vvhich changed in 1931 into RepublicanParty of the People vvhose statutes as a unique party vvill be insertedinto the Constitution.As for secularism, Tunisian leaders have not gone as far as MustaphaKemal. The unique party has not been constitutionalised. It vvas actually aunique party de facto.473
