Bushra Bey Hanna, George Bey Wessa, and Mohamed Bey Al-Shareef,was set up to colleet donations from Summer visitors in Alexandria, andto send it ali to the headquarters in Ciro 29 .The evidence is that ali segments of the Egyptian people, rich andpoor, Müslim as vvell as Copt, stood fırmly behind the the Turkish vvar ofindependence 30 .Even Theatre bands and artists contributed part of their financial resourcesfor the same purpose. An example of that vvas the "Abu-Al-Houl"band in the Al-Hambra "Teatro", vvhich appropriated the vvhole input ofSaturday, 24th September 1921, for the Turkish cause. People flocked tothe Al-Hambra on that particular occasion 31 .Even ordinary schoolboys vvere eager to share in that cause; such asthe pupils from Moharem Bey school in Alexandria, vvho vvith theirteachers, headed to prince Tosson to offer the Second amount of donationfor the Turks 32 .Simple labourers, like poor barbers and hired hands and housekeeperscontributed as much as they could afford. In list no. 18 of the donations,the reasurer Hanafy Bey Naji declered the amount of £ 1258 in donation.Ankara sources estimate Egyptian donations to Anatolia fıghtersat £18,158, in 28 March 1922. 33In addition to that, relations and contacts vvith Ankara vvere maintained,especially vvith the representatives of the "National Assembly",i.e. the contacs betvveen Galal El-Din Aaref Bey in Rome, vvho sent acable to prince Tousson telling him that the "Red Crescent" in Ankarahad received the amount of 10,000 Liras, in early April 1922 34 .Aaref Bey vvas extending thanks to the prince and the Egyptian peoplefor their attitude.
