One more evidence of the Egyptian attitude is to be found in the positionof the Egyptian vvorkers vvho protested about loading Cargo shipsto Greece from Alexandria 23 .Many doctors and nurses volunteered to go and extend medical aidto the Turkish fıghters. Among the volunteers vvas Doctor Ali Al-Aghizi(a citizen from Tanat) vvho graduated from England, had declared hisvvillingness to travel to Turkey in Mid-April 1921 for this purpose. Anothername is that of Al Sayed Mohamed Khalil, ca citizen from Tantatoo, vvho vvorked as a nurse for the vvounded Turkish soliders in HeliopolisCamp. He vvas fluent in Turkish as vvell 24 .Many Egyptian names are recorded as fighting volunteers vvith theTurks, such as Mustafa Al-Damassi, vvho vvas a simple paper distribütör,together vvith tvventy of his companion from the city of Met-Ghamr 25 .In April 1921, an organization of the "Egyptian Crescent" vvas set upto nurse vvar victimes in Anatolia 26 .As for fînancial support, many Egyptian from ali classes donatedmoney for the Turks vvithout hesitation. This vvas organized by a committeecalled the "Anatolia Relief Committee" vvith its headquarters in Cairo,headed by Prince Omar Tousson, and branches ali över the Country, in1920. There are many lists to testify to that i.e. List No.7 dated August1921. The donations amounted to £ 8,665 (Egyptian Pounds) 27 .In September 1921, Al-Levvaa Paper reported the amount of donationsfrom Cairo alone at £ 9431. Alexandria contributed vvith £ 2925 inthe same month. This shovvs that donations vvere doubling year afteryear 28 .In Alexandria, a committee headed by Musatafa Maher Pasha, andtreasured by Daoud Bey Takla, and membered by Mousa Bey Esmat,23.
