Moreover, the Islamic vvorld felt reigiousbrotherly sympathy vvith the combatant Turks.The War Lord, Mostafa Kamal Pasha, had virtually proved his gallantryand dexterity at the battle. In addition, his successful tactics revealedthat he vvas an experienced veteran in fighting.The Turkish heroes sacrifıced their blood and souls in order to shovvthe vvhole vvorld that they vvere vvorthily the ancient conqueors. Theycould achieve triumph and dictate their coditions at "Lozan" Conference 6 .In this context, vve cannot ignore Egypt's honourable attitude vviththe Turks; vvherever the Egyptian press vvas preoccupied vvith follovvingthe latest independence vvar nevvs and the Turkish leaders' efforts to liberatethe country from the Greeks.In this paper, vve try to pinpoint these important developments andtheir different dimensions depending on many original sources from theEgyptian Archieves.The Plan of The GahzyEarly 1921 The Ghazy drevv up his plan not to engage in vvar vvithGreeks until; they reached (Kasstamony <strong>Ankara</strong>) line. This vvas intendedto sap their strength, and to distace them from their military bases 7 .The Turks stopped the Greeks in the area of (Ashaak an Brossa), andthe Greek troops vvere forced to retreat, meanvvhile, the Allies claimedthat the Turks vvere unable to stop the Greeks from storming (<strong>Ankara</strong>)vvithin ten days. Nevertheless the Turkish triumphed över the Greeks at(Askishaher) in early April 1921, vvhere the Greek loss vvas round 7000soldiers, according to Reuter.
